THE NEW PORT OF PRESIDIANA Geographical coordinates: 38 02’ 12” N 14 02’19” E
The port is situated to the east, being composed of an outer jetty composed of three arms with two internal wharfs, one of which is in reinforced concrete and the other in iron. The former, which is made up of three lateral groynes, has been partly assigned to berths for pleasure-boats.
Entry to the port is allowed from dawn to dusk and, when entering, line up alongside the concrete or iron wharf, keeping to a distance of at least 100m from the head of the outer jetty. Half-submerged rocks and to be found close to the jetty head and in the harbour reefs. The sea bottom is sandy, varying in depth from 0.2m to 3.5m.
Facilities: The quaysides are illuminated and the port offers: water (drinking and non-) and electricity supplies, ramps and slipways which can take up to 100 tonnes, repair facilities for wooden hulls, fire-fighting facilities, car parking, toilets and payphones.
Lighthouses and lights: A lighthouse with white flashes every 5 seconds, range 25 nm on the NE point of Capo Cefalù; green flashes every 4 seconds, range 5 nm on the jetty head; a fixed green light and two red vertical, range 3 nm on the iron wharf.
THE OLD PORT Geographical coordinates: 38 02’ 25” N 14 01’08” E The old port is composed of a little jetty which is 70m in length and devoid of any illuminated signs or facilities. Mooring is forbidden. The sea bottom is sandy, varying in depth from 0.3m to 3.5m.
